Liam Bridcutt gave an honest assessment of Bolton's defeat at Accrington Stanley, saying the players have 'let everyone down'.

Bridcutt, who is on loan at Wanderers from Nottingham Forest until January, was making his second appearance since returning from a dislocated shoulder and fractured breastbone as the Trotters were humilitated in a 7-1 defeat at the Wham Stadium.

Speaking after the game, the 30-year-old admitted the nature of the loss has 'got to hurt' he and his fellow teammates but the motivation to lead the club to League One survival remains as strong as ever.

"We've let the club down, the fans down and the management down," Bridcutt told OfficialBWFC on YouTube.

"Day in, day out, we work hard to try and achieve something - to put the club back on the right track - and we've let everyone down.

"It's not something we're going to forget. We need to remember this and keep it in the back of our heads for the games going forward.

"It's got to hurt and we've got to go and perform again. This is the motivation which has got to kick us on for the rest of the season.

"When we're not at it, we're a million miles away from what we should be.

"We've got a brilliant opportunity to create history for the club. We know we've been put in a bad situation but we've got to take that and try to do something."
