A potential exodus of backroom staff at Bolton has begun, with goalkeeping coach Lee Butler leaving the club to join Sunderland.

Butler, who has been with Wanderers since June 2016, will be reunited with Phil Parkinson and his assistant Steve Parkin at the Stadium of Light, leaving current Trotters boss Keith Hill searching for a new member of staff.

The 53-year-old's departure from the University of Bolton Stadium had been expected for a number of weeks, leaving assistant manager David Flitcroft as the only senior member of the club's coaching department.

Approaches for Nick Allamby - Head of Sports Science - and Matt Barrass - Head Physiotherapist - are expected to be made in the near future as Parkinson begins to shape his team behind the scenes on Wearside.
