Keith Hill fears Bolton could be without Ali Crawford for a sustained period of time, after he was stretchered off during their Trophy victory over Manchester City U21.

Crawford, who had opened the scoring in a 3-1 win at the University of Bolton Stadium, went down under no pressure in added time and was treated for more than four minutes before being assisted from the field of play.

Initial diagnosis suggests the 28-year-old may have suffered from a twisted knee, potentially resulting in ligament damage, and the Wanderers boss admits to being frustrated at the number of freak injuries being picked up by his players.

"The footballing Gods are punishing us again," Hill told OfficialBWFC on YouTube.

"We had Ali Crawford just where we want him. His partnership is developing with the front three strikers - he's getting on the scoresheet and creating goals for us.

"We've been struck by another footballing lightning bolt and I'm fed up of the footballing Gods at this moment in time.

"I wish they'd go away and affect somebody else before they've really hurt Bolton Wanderers and they're hurting us again now."
