Bolton have been dealt a double injury blow, with news that both Liam Bridcutt and Will Buckley are facing prolonged spells on the sidelines.

Bridcutt was replaced after 35 minutes of Monday's goalless draw with Blackpool, with concern surfacing that the dogged midfielder could be out of action for upwards of two months with a fractured collarbone.

Buckley, meanwhile, has suffered a hairline fracture of his kneecap, potentially making the 29-year-old unavailable for a similar timescale as Bridcutt.

Wanderers boss Keith Hill admits the news comes as a frustration to him, but also provides an opening for some of the club's youngsters to put forward their claim for a more regular place in the senior squad.

"I look at our structure and it's there to build on," Hill told Sky Sports.

"The foundations are there but we're getting too many injuries that we're not accountable for.

"Liam Bridcutt has potentially fractured his collarbone and Will Buckley has a hairline fracture of his patella.

"They're mounting up but it's a great opportunity for the young players."
