Keith Hill will take charge of Bolton for the first time on Tuesday, as they face Bradford City in a Leasing.com Trophy tie at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Hill, who made nine signings on Monday's transfer deadline day, is expected to bed those new recruits into the club slowly, meaning many of the youngsters who have taken to the field in the early part of the campaign may get the opportunity to continue against their League Two opposition.

With Sunday's televised game against Bury removed from the fixture list following the Shakers' expulsion from the EFL, Hill will have 10 days to work with his squad following this midweek clash.

Thibaud Verlinden, Liam Bridcutt, Jake Wright, Ali Crawford, Chris O'Grady, Josh Emmanuel, Joe Bunney and Daryl Murphy all arrived at the club, while Will Buckley officially announced his return after training throughout the summer despite the expiry of a previous deal this past June.

Hill may decide to call upon the services of one or two of those new faces, particularly those who have featured for their former clubs already this season, but the academy scholars are expected to receive one last chance to prove they can mix it at senior level before dropping back to under-23 football.

Ben Alnwick, Liam Edwards, Josh Earl and Connor Hall all remain sidelined, while Jack Hobbs and Dennis Politic will be assessed to see whether they can figure for a second time in the space of four days.
