Bolton have completed the signing of Liam Bridcutt, who joins the club on loan from Nottingham Forest until January.

Bridcutt, who has 12 months remaining on his existing contract at the City Ground, has been with Forest since joining in a reported £1million move from Leeds United in August 2017.

A defensive midfielder whose senior career began as a Chelsea youngster on loan at Yeovil Town in February 2008, the now 30-year-old has since gone on to represent the likes of Watford, Stockport County and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Following a successful three-and-a-half year stint with the Seagulls, Bridcutt completed a £2.5million transfer to Sunderland in January 2014 - making 30 appearances in the Premier League - before departing for Leeds, where he could go on to become club captain.

Capped twice by Scotland, Bridcutt is expected to add some much-needed steel to a Wanderers midfield severely lacking in senior options following a mass summer exodus.

He will be eligible for selection when Keith Hill's side take on Bradford City in the Trophy on Tuesday evening.
