Bolton have completed the signing of Joe Bunney, who became a free agent on deadline day after his contract at Northampton Town was terminated.

The 25-year-old left-back joined the Cobblers from Rochdale in January 2018 and initially became a focal point of their squad but spent the first half of last season on loan at Blackpool, before returning to the Crown Oil Arena during the second half of the campaign.

Bunney had featured in six of Northampton's eight fixtures since the start of the current term, but was granted his release after expressing a desire to return to his native north west - having been born and raised in nearby Gorton.

He has signed a 12 month contract at the University of Bolton Stadium, subject to clearance from the EFL.
