Ken Anderson says he 'forgave' money owed to him, prior to his sale of Bolton Wanderers to the Football Ventures consortium.

A report in Thursday's edition of The Bolton News suggested Anderson had walked away from the deal with a £240,000 windfall, something the club's former owner strongly denies.

In an official statement, first released by BBC Radio Manchester, Anderson admits to seeking potential legal action over what he describes as 'leaked' figures, whilst also stating 'some things ought to be left in the past'.

"I am delighted the club has been successfully acquired by Football Ventures and that over 150 jobs are now secure," Anderson said.

"I must, however, correct a few myths and inaccurate statements that have regrettably been released or leaked to the media, despite very clear and obvious confidentiality clauses in each transactional document, something which I am seeking advice in relation to.

"All settlement sums stated to have been received by various parties have been inaccurately leaked, so please ignore the figures being published. Any sums received by the various parties in this deal were, however, agreed many months ago. At no time did I seek to change those figures, despite others seeking to do so.

"The current reports also make sole reference to the Eddie Davies Trust releasing their secured debt but fail to mention that I also forgave my secured debt to enable this deal to complete.

"Like every deal of this magnitude, the parties involved all took their own legal advice. Each legal team negotiated hard to obtain the best results possible for their clients.

"I'd like to thank Walker Morris for their guidance and advice not only in this deal, but for everything they have done for Bolton Wanderers over the years.

"Of course, there is much more that could be said but some things ought to be left in the past, for now at least. What is really important is that the club succeeds under its new management.

"I wish the new owners, the club and especially the fans every success for the future."
