A meeting of the Bolton Wanderers Supporters' Trust, the EFL and representatives of other clubs - including Bury - scheduled for Friday, has been cancelled.

In collaboration with Forever Bury, Blackpool Supporters' Trust and Coventry City's Sky Blue Trust, the Wanderers Supporters' Trust had agreed to meet with EFL Chief Executive Debbie Jevans at their headquarters in Preston, only to be turned away at the 11th hour.

Bolton's off-field struggles have been well documented in recent times, with a takeover by the Football Ventures consortium yet to reach a positive conclusion, but with Bury's league membership on the verge of being revoked, the Trust expressed their disappointment at the EFL's decision.

"After input from Baroness Ann Taylor of Bolton and the Football Supporters Association (FSA), a meeting with Debbie Jevans had been scheduled for tomorrow lunchtime," read a statement at bwfcst.co.uk.

"Representatives of Forever Bury, Sky Blue Trust, Blackpool Supporters' Trust and Bolton Wanderers Supporters' Trust, along with the FSA, were due to meet Debbie Jevans at the EFL HQ in Preston.

"However, the meeting has today been cancelled. This is very frustrating and disappointing, particularly with the impending expulsion of Bury FC and the still unresolved takeover at Bolton Wanderers FC.

"As a collective, we were looking to make the EFL fully aware of the feelings of supporters and their despair at the lack of intervention from the EFL in the growing numbers of dysfunctional ownership issues. Tomorrow would have been that opportunity.

"We now await a rescheduling of the meeting and sincerely hope that it is not too late to save our clubs from further catastrophes.

"The clock is ticking for our national game. The EFL need to take note and act now."
