Erhun Oztumer has walked away from Bolton after winning an appeal that allowed him to terminate the final 12 months of his contract.

Oztumer, who joined Wanderers on a free transfer from Walsall in the summer of 2018, had been a popular figure amongst supporters at the University of Bolton Stadium but struggled to establish himself under the stewardship of Phil Parkinson.

In total, the 28-year-old made just 19 appearances during his time with the Trotters - including 10 starts - and completed 90 minutes on just five separate occasions.

After going a number of months without pay, Oztumer served club administrators with his notice of resignation during the off-season - a move successfully operated by both Sammy Ameobi and Pawel Olkowski.

Oztumer's initial attempts to leave the club were blocked, but an appeal hearing on Wednesday found in his favour and he is now free to seek pastures new as a free agent.
