Andy Haines to Referee Rochdale v Bolton

Andy Haines will referee Tuesday's Carabao Cup first-round tie between Rochdale and Bolton at the Crown Oil Arena.

Wanderers go into the game on the back of a goalless draw with Coventry City on Saturday, while Dale were held to a 1-1 draw by Doncaster Rovers that same afternoon.

Haines, who will take charge of the game, has officiated one match so far this season - issuing two yellow cards and no red.

That outing was on August 10, when he was the man in the middle for Macclesfield Town's 3-0 victory over Leyton Orient in League Two.

Haines' last match in charge of Bolton was in August 2018, when they were beaten 2-1 by Leeds United in a Carabao Cup tie at Elland Road. He kept his cards in his pocket on that occasion, as Wanderers exited the competition at the first-round stage.

The last time he refereed a Rochdale fixture was on April 19, as they ran out 1-0 winners over Wycombe Wanderers in a League One encounter at the Crown Oil Arena. One player entered the book that day - Dale midfielder Oliver Rathbone.
