The EFL have admitted to being 'frustrated' with events at Bolton, after Laurence Bassini obtained an injunction which prevents the sale of the club.

Bassini, who agreed a deal with outgoing chairman Ken Anderson back in April, claims to have written evidence and will return to Manchester High Court next Wednesday for a further hearing on his case.

Paul Appleton, joint administrator of Wanderers, earlier expressed his 'outrage and disgust' at the actions of Bassini, claiming a takeover by the Football Ventures consortium was close to completion, but the EFL chose their words a little more carefully.

A statement, posted at EFL.com, read: "We are aware of the terms of an Order granted earlier today in the High Court in Manchester in respect of Bolton Wanderers.

"The League is not a party to the proceedings and we are currently liaising with the Administrators of the Club to understand the full extent of any implications to the proposed transfer of assets.

"We are extremely frustrated by this late development with the deal so close to completion, and our focus must remain firmly on ensuring the long-term future of the football club.

"We will be making no further comment at this time."
