Football Ventures (Whites) Limited have reached an agreement with the Professional Footballers' Association over a loan in the region of £2million.

The Football Ventures consortium - who were named as preferred bidders for Bolton Wanderers on July 1 - are understood to have agreed terms with the players' union on Monday, on condition that the funds are used to pay all football creditors in full upon completion of a successful takeover.

The loan, which has been requested to assist with cash flow purposes, would allow the prospective new owners to focus on offering contracts and financing the arrival of new players ahead of Saturday's League One opener at Wycombe Wanderers.

The Trotters have just seven recognised senior professionals ahead of the new campaign but are likely to offer fresh deals to out-of-contract names such as David Wheater, Jack Hobbs and Will Buckley after they featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Salford City on Saturday.
