Bolton's pre-season friendly against Preston North End has been called off, with Wanderers unable to play due to a player strike.

Phil Parkinson's side were due to face their Lancashire rivals at the County Ground, Leyland, but will instead be replaced by League One rivals Accrington Stanley.

The cancellation comes on the back of news that both Erhun Oztumer and Josh Magennis had served noticed to terminate their contracts - a move Trotters administrators David Rubin & Partners quickly rejected.

A brief statement, posted at bwfc.co.uk, read: "Bolton Wanderers can confirm they will not be taking part in the scheduled friendly fixture against Preston North End on Tuesday.

"The football club would like to apologise for any inconvenience this will cause.

"Wanderers supporters who have purchased tickets for this fixture are asked to contact the Ticket Office from 9am on Monday."
