Mark Little has lashed out at Paul Appleton, after the joint administrator for Bolton suggested he shared the pain of Wanderers players and footballing staff.

In a collective statement, released on Wednesday, players voiced their displeasure at having gone unpaid for a period of 20 weeks, forcing a response from Appleton in which he said players 'do not have a full understanding or appreciation of the club's ongoing financial position'.

Appleton also stated updates had been provided to players by first-team manager Phil Parkinson, but Little, who recently linked up with Bristol Rovers following the expiry of his contract, says the reality is a complete contrast to the words being put into the public domain.

Posting on Twitter, Little said: "I've not spoke to Phil Parkinson for months.

"We find out what's happening next through local press. No one else.

"You say 'with all due respect players don't understand'. How are we meant to understand when we don't get told anything?

"Everyone goes on about players will get paid in full when the takeover happens. The takeover isn't going to happen if it doesn't happen sharpish. Bolton have five outfield players.

"You share no same frustrations you silly man. We have lads who couldn't afford to get to training. Staff going to food banks. Same frustrations you twirp."
