Luca Connell insists the opportunity to sign for Celtic was one he couldn't turn down and has set his sights on appearing in the Champions League.

Connell, who joined the Scottish champions in a £350,000 deal on Saturday, progressed through the academy at Bolton to make his debut this past January - ultimately making 12 appearances as the club suffered relegation to League One.

An attempt to terminate his contract was rebuffed by Wanderers administrators on Thursday but it wasn't enough to prevent a move from reaching completion, one which the 18-year-old says is a 'dream come true'.

"It's unbelievable to sign for such a massive club," Connell told Celtic TV. "It's a dream come true.

"I broke into the Bolton side when I was 17 - that was in January. I played 12 games and then recently I heard that Celtic were interested.

"That's not something you can take for granted so I spoke to my agent and we've been sorting things out for a few weeks. I'm grateful it's all done and pen has been put to paper.

"It hasn't sunk in yet that I'm signing for such a big club with this much history. Hopefully I can help us make more.

"I'm looking forward to all the games but especially the Champions League. If I'm going to make my debut in the Champions League, I need that confidence to play in that tournament.

"I believe in myself and I believe in my teammates. They're half way through making history and I believe I can go on and help them make more history by winning 10 (league titles) in a row."
