Laurence Bassini is back on the scene at Bolton and has vowed to challenge the club's decision to appoint administrators.

On April 17, it was announced Wanderers were to become 'debt free' after Bassini struck a Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) with outgoing chairman Ken Anderson to take control of a 94.5% majority shareholding in the club.

An official takeover failed to materialise, however, with the EFL requesting further paperwork from Bassini in order to prove he had adequate funding to keep the Trotters solvent in the short to medium term.

With finances running dry and the threat of liquidation looming at the High Court, the Fildraw Trust - acting on behalf of the family of the late Eddie Davies - placed the club into administration on May 13, a decision Bassini has questioned the legality of.

In a statement, released by The Bolton News, Bassini said: "I am trying to save the club.

"I am very worried that if I don't do something now that it could go into liquidation. The club is in a vulnerable position.

"Over the last few weeks I have stayed quiet, let things move along, but I have not had the information I need from the receiver.

"I will serve notice to Quantuma on the SPA right away because I am not prepared to stand by and watch this happen, it is just not right and I want the fans to know that."
