Phil Parkinson believes Laurence Bassini's prospective takeover at Bolton only added to the uncertainty and stress within the club.

Four weeks have passed since Bassini agreed a deal that would have seen him take control of a 94.5% shareholding of Wanderers, but a public war of words with outgoing chairman Ken Anderson eventually saw the arrangement collapse - days before the Trotters were placed into administration by the family of the late Eddie Davies.

When asked for his opinion on Bassini - who says he will told talks with administrators on Friday - Parkinson admitted the public interest of the former Watford chief was of benefit to absolutely nobody.

"I met him, he had a chat with the players and came to a couple of games," Parkinson told talkSPORT.

"I felt the more it was going on that maybe he did have the funds behind him.

"I think he was trying really hard to get those funds but it was a sequence of events we didn't need.

"It delayed the process and put people through more stress, which we certainly didn't need."
