Wigan Athletic are set to profit from a £1million bonus, after Norwich City's promotion to the Premier League triggered a clause in their deal for Yanic Wildschut.

Wildschut joined the Canaries in a reported £7million deal from Latics in January 2017 but failed to make an impact during his time at Carrow Road - making 29 appearances during his first 12 months at the club before being sent on loan to Cardiff City for the second half of the 2017/18 campaign.

The 27-year-old played 10 times as the Bluebirds achieved promotion to the top-flight, before going on to join Bolton on a season-long loan last July.

He featured 18 times for Wanderers - a total which included just four league starts - and had been set to return to Norwich in January until suffering what would ultimately become a season-ending ankle ligament injury.

Wildschut will join the free agent market when his contract expires on June 30, although his form at Championship level over the past two years could force him into looking into a move overseas.
