Sammy Ameobi could be on the move to China after serving notice to rip up the final 12 months of his contract at Bolton.

Ameobi, who had a loan spell with Wanderers in the first half of the 2016/17 campaign before joining on a free transfer from Newcastle United the following summer, has scored 12 goals in 91 appearances for the club.

He received criticism from supporters for a series of inconsistent displays this season, but remains an attractive prospect for clubs both at home and abroad due to his ability to turn a game with the occasional moment of magic.

Bolton face a recruitment crisis ahead of next season's assault on League One, with the few players contracted beyond June 30 able to legally terminate their deals after wages for the month of March went unpaid for a period in excess of 14 days.
