Joe Williams has issued a message of thanks to Bolton supporters, as he prepares to head back to his parent club Everton.

Williams has spent the season on loan at Wanderers, making 30 appearances in all competitions, and has been a mainstay in central midfield aside from a two-month spell out with injury at the turn of the year.

The 22-year-old is expected to miss the Trotters' trip to Nottingham Forest on the final day with a hamstring injury, so he took to social media to acknowledge fans and also provide a line on the current ownership position at the University of Bolton Stadium.

"(I) would like to say thank you to all the staff and players at Bolton Wanderers who have been brilliant with me all year," Williams said.

"Also, a massive thank you to all the fans who have supported and stuck by us all season no matter what the circumstances.

"A club of this size doesn't deserve to be going through what it is going through at the moment.

"I hope everything is sorted and Bolton can get back to where they belong soon."
