A rearranged Championship fixture between Bolton and Brentford could yet take place after all other clubs have concluded their regular season.
Wanderers had been due to host the Bees at the University of Bolton Stadium on Saturday, only for the game to be postponed at 10:30pm the previous evening after Trotters players staged a strike over unpaid wages for the month of March.
Public speculation has suggested the sides could meet this coming Wednesday, May 1, but reports on Monday indicate a gathering of the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) isn't due to be held until Tuesday 7th May, virtually eliminating any possibility of the match being staged beforehand.
In a statement, posted at EFL.com, the league body revealed all outstanding fixtures must be played within four days of the end of the regular campaign - giving the clubs until May 9 to fulfil their obligations.
A statement read: "Discussions have continued with Bolton Wanderers, Brentford and other relevant parties throughout the course of the past 48 hours in regards to the rescheduling of last weekend's Sky Bet Championship fixture.
"There has been suggestions in the public domain that that the game could potentially take place on Wednesday 1 May 2019.
"However, Bolton Wanderers has not yet confirmed this will be the case and the EFL will advise via the appropriate channels as soon as a definitive decision is reached.
"EFL Regulations do provide for any match to be played within four days of the end the normal playing season."
