Bolton Wanderers have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Laurence Bassini, which will see the former Watford owner conclude a takeover of the club.

Bassini, who had a 13-month spell in charge of the Hornets between 2011 and 2012, is reported to have agreed a nominal fee with current Wanderers chief Ken Anderson, in addition to taking on and clearing the club's existing levels of debt - including that of Bolton Whites Hotel.

The deal will see Bassini gain control of Anderson's 94.5% shareholding in Burnden Leisure Limited, and is subject to EFL approval.

In an official statement, posted at bwfc.co.uk, a club spokesperson said the arrival of Bassini would see 'significant funds' made available immediately, allowing for outstanding wages and charges to be cleared, leaving the club 'debt free' for the first time in years.
