Luca Connell was withdrawn from Bolton's defeat to Middlesbrough with tight hamstrings, but isn't expected to face time on the sidelines.

Connell was substituted with eight minutes of Wanderers 2-0 loss to Boro remaining, after appearing to collapse to the ground with no opposition player around.

Trotters boss Phil Parkinson was quick to ease fears of a major injury, however, saying the 17-year-old is still adapting to life as a Championship footballer and his conditioning will improve over time.

"His hamstrings were a little tight at half-time," Parkinson told bwfc.co.uk.

"We're not going to risk Luca because he's a special talent and, like I've said since day one, he's only 17 so needs managing.

"The physical demands of this division are as hard as any across Europe, but I think he's coped really well.

"His performance was tremendous. He never shies away from the ball, his passing range is different class. He's refreshed and he's a good young player."
