Bolton Wanderers have issued a response to disgruntled players, after they sought the advice of the Professional Footballers' Association over unpaid wages.

Initially due in bank accounts on February 28, players were advised last Friday that outstanding salaries would be funded by Ken Anderson by close of business on Monday if a proposed takeover of the club had not reached a conclusion.

A balance said to be in the region of £600,000 remains unsettled, however, prompting players to issue a statement in which they admit to feeling 'extremely let down by Ken Anderson once again'.

The EFL have weighed in on the matter, demanding answers from club officials without delay, and Wanderers have now responded in a statement which appears to criticise the actions of their players.

The statement, made public by The Bolton News, read: "We are disappointed that the players have taken this course of action; however we will continue to have ongoing dialogue with them.

"The takeover process is progressing and all parties are working hard to reach a speedy completion. We hope to make a further statement prior to Tuesday's game.

"Once finalised all outstanding salaries will be paid as a matter of urgency."
