Bolton have boosted their goalkeeping ranks with the addition of Remi Matthews, who has completed a permanent transfer from Norwich City.

Matthews, who recently returned to Carrow Road after a loan-to-buy switch to Wanderers collapsed due to a registration embargo, is understood to have signed an 18-month contract at the University of Bolton Stadium, where he will continue to serve as an understudy to first-choice stopper Ben Alnwick.

With Alnwick considered doubtful for Monday's televised fixture against West Bromwich Albion, Matthews may be handed a second debut as he looks to add to the four appearances he made during his initial loan spell with the Trotters.

Speaking to about the capture of the 24-year-old, manager Phil Parkinson said: "We are very pleased that Remi has completed his move.

"He's a young keeper who brings real quality for the number one shirt and it's great to have him back up here."
