Gary O'Neil has returned to Bolton Wanderers, after signing a contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the season.

O'Neil, who joined Wanderers on a short-term deal last August, had previously agreed terms on a new deal at the University of Bolton Stadium, only to be left frustrated after the club was placed under a registration embargo by the EFL.

The 35-year-old has made 14 appearances for the Trotters, scoring once, and manager Phil Parkinson expressed his delight at finally getting the paperwork over the line.

"We are really pleased that the deal for Gary has been finalised," Parkinson told bwfc.co.uk.

"Not only does he offer experience but brings quality to the team and we are looking forward to working with him again."
