Sheffield United to Offer Escape Route for Wildschut

Yanic Wildschut could be offered a January escape from his loan at Bolton, with Sheffield United said to be keen on the Norwich City midfielder.

Wildschut, who joined Wanderers on a season-long loan deal from the Canaries back in July, made an excellent start to his stay with the Trotters - coming off the substitutes' bench to score twice in his first three league appearances for the club.

He has struggled to establish himself at the University of Bolton Stadium, however, with injury woe and a series of poor performances restricting the 27-year-old to just five starts in all competitions - with a further 12 coming from the bench.

It is a far cry from the situation the Dutchman found himself in just two years ago, when he completed a £7million switch from Wigan Athletic to Norwich, where he is due to fall out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

Sheffield United, who are understood to be leading the chase, will end 2018 occupying 4th place in the Championship table and are four points short of the aforementioned Norwich, who join Leeds United in the automatic promotion places.
