A Note from the Webmaster - Merry Christmas 2018

2018 has turned into a year of stagnation at Bolton Wanderers, something we here at Burnden Aces believe has been mirrored by the progress of our website.

Heavily influenced by external factors - as has too been the case at our beloved football club - the quality and regularity of the service we provide has taken a hit over the past 12 months. We KNOW this but remain committed to putting things right - retaining our status as the number one Wanderers outlet on the web.

For those who may be unaware, Burnden Aces is entirely fan-driven and independent of the club itself - with the majority of articles, behind-the-scenes maintenance and financial input under the control of just one solitary person.

Whilst this makes the spider's web of management a simpler process, real-life work and personal difficulties have had a negative impact on our service this past year. To turn this into a positive, however, 2019 will present supporters and readers such as yourself with a chance to join our team and become a part of the ongoing success of a platform which launched in 2007.

Despite suffering a 13% drop in visitor numbers, we are excited about the upcoming New Year. More than two years after originally anticipated, 2019 will see the relaunch of our ageing website, complete with new features, editors and opportunities for you to engage with your fellow supporter.

Remaining on the topic of supporters, we would like to thank those of you who have contributed to our ever-growing number of social media followers. This year saw a 5% rise in Facebook followers, as we eclipsed the 5,000 barrier, while numbers on Twitter rose 8.5% to more than 7,000.

It will come as no surprise to read that our most popular article of the year came on May 6. The day is one that will remain in the memory for a lifetime - a day when goals from Adam Le Fondre, David Wheater and Aaron Wilbraham preserved Wanderers' status as a Championship club with the most dramatic of victories over Nottingham Forest on the final day of the season.

We close by thanking you for your continued support. 2018 has perhaps been the most challenging yet for Burnden Aces, but our dedication to you remains - starting with coverage of the Boxing Day clash with Rotherham United.

Merry Christmas to the best fans in the world!
