Bolton and Walsall are to meet in the FA Cup for the first time, after the Saddlers overcame Sunderland in a second-round replay at the Stadium of Light.

After playing out a 1-1 draw in their original tie at the Banks's Stadium at the start of December, Liam Kinsella scored the only goal on Tuesday night as Dean Keates' outfit emerged victorious in the battle of the two League One sides.

Despite having never met in the world's oldest cup competition, Wanderers have faced Walsall on no fewer than 23 previous occasions - winning 11 and drawing four of those games.

Their most recent clash was in February 2017, when Gary Madine, Liam Trotter and Chris Long were among the goalscorers as Bolton maintained their pursuit of promotion from League One with a 4-1 victory at Macron Stadium.

The tie will take place at the University of Bolton Stadium over the weekend of January 5/6, 2019.
