Ken Anderson has threatened to withdraw funding from Bolton Wanderers if the current negativity surrounding both he and the club continues.

Anderson, who was responding to a feature in Wednesday's edition of The Bolton News, made it clear he would not suffer the same fate as many other club owners across the country by putting himself into financial hardship - just like previous Wanderers owner Eddie Davies.

While the current-day chairman claims to have personally settled the monthly salary payments of players, coaching and office staff at the University of Bolton Stadium on numerous occasions, he has given his clearest indication yet that those days could be numbered if he remains a target for both supporters and media outlets.

"Maybe Marc is right and 'Enough is Enough' and I should just follow Ed Davies' decision and refuse to provide any further personal funding," Anderson told bwfc.co.uk.

"I know that from the numerous conversations that I had with Ed that he was very disappointed and disillusioned over the constant negativity he received from the media and that eventually he decided enough was enough.

"Like Ed, I do not enjoy my family and friends having to read and experience the vitriol that is printed about me when all I am trying to do is help get the club through these difficult times at my own considerable personal expense.

"I do not want and cannot afford to end up losing substantial amounts of money in football as Ed did and many others like him also have.

"Most of these are on public record and as far as I can see all they were trying to do was help and keep their respective clubs going.

"No doubt, with the benefit of hindsight, they would not repeat the same mistakes today and I for my part am happy to learn from their mistakes and not experience them and eventually suffer the same fate.

"Sometimes it is best not to follow the dream and accept that your first loss is your best loss! As they say be careful what you wish for."
