Bolton will face either Walsall or Sunderland in the third round of the 2018/19 Emirates FA Cup, with the tie to be played at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The draw, which was made at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge on Monday evening, will pit Wanderers against League One opposition - making them favourites to advance into round four for the first time in three years.

Walsall came from behind to claim a 1-1 draw against the Black Cats in their second-round clash on Saturday, forcing a replay at the Stadium of Light on December 11, 2018.

Bolton have never faced Walsall in the competition, but they have been drawn against Sunderland on seven previous occasions - six of which have been at this same stage.

Including replays, the sides have met 10 times in the FA Cup, with Wanderers winning just two of those games.

The most recent of those came in 2013, when a brace from Marvin Sordell helped Dougie Freedman's side to victory over the then Premier League outfit in a replay on Wearside.
