Gavin Ward will referee Tuesday's Sky Bet Championship fixture between Sheffield Wednesday and Bolton at Hillsborough.

Wanderers go into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw at Millwall on Saturday, while Wednesday were beaten 2-1 on home soil by Derby County that same afternoon.

Ward, who will take charge of the game, has officiated 18 matches so far this season - issuing 54 yellow cards and no red.

His most recent outing was on November 24, when he was the man in the middle for Lincoln City's 1-1 draw with Mansfield Town in League Two. The Surrey official produced four yellow cards at Sincil Bank, three of which went to members of the visiting side.

Ward's last match in charge of Bolton was in August 2016, when they came from behind to beat AFC Wimbledon 2-1 in a League One clash at Kingsmeadow Stadium. Three players were cautioned that afternoon, including Wanderers duo Mark Davies and Zach Clough.

The last time he refereed an Owls fixture was on September 1, as they beat Reading 2-1 in a Championship encounter at the Madejski Stadium. Two players entered the book that day, including Wednesday defender Matt Penney.
