The Sky Sports television cameras will be at Villa Park on Friday evening, as Aston Villa play host to Bolton in a curtain-raiser for a weekend of Championship action.

With just one win from their last 11 games, Wanderers will be looking to get back on track and put further distance between themselves and the bottom three, while Villa are just two points better off than their visitors having lost each of their last two outings.

Phil Parkinson's side have already picked up a win in the Midlands this season - beating West Bromwich Albion on the opening day - but they must improve a return of just two goals in eight games if they are to emerge victorious once more.

They remain without the services of Sammy Ameobi, who could be back in contention for next weekend's game with Swansea City, while former Villa midfielder Stephen Ireland is unlikely to make the cut as he ups his fitness following a recent arrival from Stoke City.

Gary O'Neil remains a doubt due to a calf strain, meaning the likes of Joe Williams, Josh Vela and Erhun Oztumer may be handed another opportunity to impress in the middle of the field.

One man who is set to return, however, is Jason Lowe after he completed a one-match suspension, but Josh Magennis is walking a similar tightrope after collecting four cautions to date.

David Wheater could be recalled after sitting out against Hull City last weekend, with Mark Beevers, Jack Hobbs and Marc Wilson all looking over their shoulders.
