Oliver Langford will referee Friday's Sky Bet Championship fixture between Aston Villa and Bolton at Villa Park.
Wanderers go into the game on the back of a 1-0 defeat at home to Hull City on Saturday, while Villa were beaten by the same scoreline at Queens Park Rangers the previous evening.
Langford, who will take charge of the game, has officiated 12 matches so far this season - issuing 25 yellow cards and one red.
His most recent outing was on October 27, when he was the man in the middle for Norwich City's 1-0 victory over Brentford in the Championship. The West Midlands official produced one yellow card at Carrow Road, which went to visiting defender Henrik Dalsgaard.
Langford's last match in charge of Bolton was on September 15, when they were beaten 2-1 by Queens Park Rangers in a Championship clash at the University of Bolton Stadium. One player was cautioned that afternoon - Wanderers midfielder Craig Noone.
He has never previously refereed a Villa fixture.
