After scoring his first goal in Bolton colours in Saturday's draw at Rotherham United, Christian Doidge hopes to be rewarded with more opportunities.

Doidge, who joined Wanderers on loan from Forest Green Rovers on the final day of the summer transfer window, will make the move permanent on January 1, but has struggled for action in the opening weeks of the campaign - starting just once under Phil Parkinson.

But after coming off the substitutes' bench to net an equaliser at the AESSEAL New York Stadium, the 26-year-old believes he is adjusting to life at Championship level and aims to prove his worth when Nottingham Forest visit the University of Bolton Stadium on Wednesday.

"It's been a hard couple of weeks," Doidge told BWFC's official YouTube channel. "Getting up to the speed of things and getting to know the boys.

"I've just been waiting for that one opportunity. It seemed to fall for me, I've hit it well and it's gone in.

"The most important thing is it's got us a point away from home and means we can go into Wednesday against Nottingham Forest in good spirits.

"I could see that their centre-half was quite tired towards the end and it seems to drop quite nicely. I don't score many from outside the box so it's a relief it went in and saved us from not picking up any points.

"As a new signing and a striker, you want to get that first goal as soon as possible. I'm really happy to get that and hopefully I can kick on, score more goals, get more minutes and help the team go up the league."
