Bolton will hope to take advantage of a week's rest when they look to end a five-match winless run at home to Derby County on Saturday.

Wanderers have had a full seven days to prepare for the visit of the Rams, who went the distance at Manchester United on Tuesday before emerging victorious on penalties in a Carabao Cup tie at Old Trafford.

The Trotters last tasted success against Derby in August 2012, a run stretching back a miserable nine meetings, but the potential of a fatigued County will give manager Phil Parkinson plenty to ponder ahead of kick-off.

The Bolton boss hinted at an adaptable 3-5-2 / 5-3-2 following the arrival of Lloyd Dyer at the start of the week, but the 36-year-old isn't yet deemed fit to feature having last stepped out for Burton Albion at the end of last season.

Dyer's likely absence means Jonathan Grounds is expected to continue at left-back, with Andrew Taylor said to be at least two weeks away from a return to action, while suspension for Marc Wilson means at least one of David Wheater and Mark Beevers could come back in at the heart of the defence.

Sammy Ameobi remains unavailable with an ankle injury which could keep him sidelined into November, leaving Yanic Wildschut, Will Buckley and Craig Noone at the recognised wide options, although Clayton Donaldson could be utilised on the right-hand side should Parkinson opt for either Josh Magennis or Christian Doidge in attack.

Erhun Oztumer was sacrificed following Wilson's red card at Ipswich Town last time out, so he may be afforded another opportunity to impress as Wanderers look to inject some fresh ideas into their struggling recent performances.
