Bolton have completed the signing of Lloyd Dyer, who had been available as a free agent following his release by Burton Albion.

Dyer, who made 84 appearances during a two-year stint with the Brewers, scoring 15 goals, has signed a short-term deal at the University of Bolton Stadium, where he will provide added competition on the left-hand side of midfield during the injury absence of Sammy Ameobi.

The 36-year-old, who has proved a thorn in the side of Wanderers during spells at numerous clubs in recent years, could prove to be an invaluable asset to the club, in the opinion of manager Phil Parkinson.

"We are pleased to welcome Lloyd to Bolton Wanderers," Parkinson told bwfc.co.uk.

"With Sammy's injury lay off being longer than we first anticipated, it was important that we have more options.

"Lloyd's experience of playing as a left wing back will give us more cover if we decide to play with a back three."
