Phil Parkinson and Ben Alnwick have been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Manager and Player of the Month awards, respectively.

Under the guidance of Parkinson, Wanderers have made a mockery of those who labelled them relegation candidates - picking up 11 points from a possible 18 and occupying 8th place in the league table.

The Trotters have lost just once in the competition so far this season - a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of Sheffield United - but registered three wins and a draw from their four other Championship games during the opening month of the campaign.

The three managers competing with Parkinson for the honour are Leeds United's Marcelo Bielsa, Middlesbrough's Tony Pulis and Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray.

Meanwhile, Alnwick is joined by Leeds United's Kemar Roofe, Brentford's Ollie Watkins and Bristol City's Andreas Weimann in the hunt for the player award.

The 31-year-old conceded just six times in August, a month which saw him keep back-to-back clean sheets in 1-0 victories over both Reading and Birmingham City.

The winners of both awards will be announced on Friday.
