Bolton have completed the signing of midfielder Joe Williams on a season-long loan deal from Everton.

Williams, who has been with the Toffees since the age of seven, has been capped at under-20 level by England and spent last season on loan at Barnsley, for whom he scored once in 38 appearances as they were relegated to League One.

The 21-year-old has made a move others have taken in recent times - following Antonee Robinson and Harry Charsley in 2017/18 - although the Blues are keen to avoid a repeat of the latter's time at the University of Bolton Stadium and have inserted a recall clause in the deal.

Speaking to bwfc.co.uk, Bolton boss Phil Parkinson said: "We're pleased to have signed Joe.

"He's an excellent young player and is a great addition to the squad."
