Bolton could go level on points at the top of the Championship on Wednesday, when they host Birmingham City at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Wanderers, who go into the game occupying 7th place in the league table, trail the top two - Leeds United and Middlesbrough - by three points and know a positive result would give them a good footing ahead of another home encounter with Sheffield United at the weekend.

Four days on from a victory at Reading, Trotters boss Phil Parkinson will assess the fitness of his squad as he looks to maintain his side's unbeaten start to the league campaign.

Will Buckley was replaced at half-time at the Madejski Stadium after suffering from tightness in his thigh, so Yanic Wildschut, who would prove to be the matchwinner on that occasion, could be handed a first Championship start since arriving on loan from Norwich City.

Sammy Ameobi is closing in on a return from a hip injury but may be held back until Saturday, while Clayton Donaldson has recovered from a groin problem to be available for selection against his former employers.

Jonathan Grounds is ineligible having joined Wanderers on a season-long loan from the Blues.
