Bolton appear to have identified a replacement for Adam Le Fondre, with Derby County forward David Nugent said to be lined up for a potential move.

Nugent, who has represented local clubs Bury, Preston North End and Burnley as part of a 16-year playing career, is currently in the final year of his contract at Derby County and could be available at a reduced price as new manager Frank Lampard looks raise funds that would allow him to put his own stamp on the club.

The 33-year-old has scored 16 goals in 59 appearances since joining the Rams in a £2.5million transfer from Middlesbrough in January 2017, but has had doubt cast over his future following the double arrival of Martyn Waghorn and Jack Marriott at Pride Park.

Wanderers, who would only be able to cover part of Nugent's wage on a loan-to-buy deal, currently have Josh Magennis, Clayton Donaldson and youth prospect Connor Hall available in attack.
