Phil Parkinson has urged Bolton to build on their impressive start to the season, after beating Reading 1-0 at the Madejski Stadium.

Yanic Wildschut, a half-time substitute, came off the bench to score the only goal as Wanderers picked up their second successive away league win - something they last achieved at Championship level in April 2014.

Speaking after the game, the Trotters boss highlighted the fitness levels of his players, whilst rejecting criticism of his team's style after taking the points through a fine team move.

"It was so important we backed up that West Brom result away from home and we had to work hard for it," Parkinson told The Bolton News.

"It was a humid, sticky day and the lads have really pushed themselves to get something from it.

"I think Reading are a better team than their league positon suggests.

"But it's a moment from real quality from Yanic and (Craig) Noone which has won the game.

"Our aim was to be in the top six getting back on that coach. Even with three games gone that is a massive psychological boost.

"We've done it - we'll take a deep breath, and now pick a team which can build on it."
