Adam Le Fondre has paid tribute to supporters of Bolton Wanderers, upon completing a move to Sydney FC.

After his contract with Wanderers was cancelled by mutual consent on Tuesday, Le Fondre has signed a three-year deal with the Australian side which had been described as an 'opportunity of a lifetime'.

The 30-year-old has left a lasting impression at the University of Bolton Stadium, scoring goals that helped secure promotion to and survival in the Championship over the past two seasons, and he made his feelings clear in a 'Thank you' message posted on social media.

"(It was) a special time for me at your great club," Le Fondre posted on Instagram.

"Every time I put on your shirt I gave nothing less than my best.

"I always remember a saying, 'Play for the badge on the front and they will remember the name on the back'.

"We've shared some incredible moments that will stick with me for life.

"From Brentford away where my chant started, Fleetwood away, Shrewsbury away, Peterborough at home and last but not least, Forest at home.

"Like I said, it's been an honour representing your club. I wish everyone at the club nothing but success.

"Lots of love, Alfie."
