Bolton goalkeeper Jake Turner has joined non-league Stalybridge Celtic on a youth loan deal until January.

Turner, who spent time at Bower Fold last season, has been training with the Northern Premier League side throughout pre-season and has been granted permission to make the switch after Wanderers added Remi Matthews to their ranks as backup to Ben Alnwick.

The 19-year-old remains contracted at the University of Bolton Stadium until the end of the season and believes the temporary switch will continue to aid his development.

"Happy to join Stalybridge Celtic on loan until January," Turner posted on Twitter.

"(It's a) great opportunity for me to get game time at a first-team level.

"(I) can't wait to get the season started tomorrow."
