Ken Anderson believes the shoots of recovery are starting to blossom at Bolton, who he believes are in their best position since his takeover of the club.

Having rescued Wanderers from almost inevitable administration, Anderson has overseen a relegation, promotion and miraculous survival in his two-and-a-half years at the helm.

Recent off-field drama surrounding non-payment of players, as well as a dispute over a catering contract, have put doubts back in the minds of supporters. But the Trotters owner insists things are looking positive, with the club likely to post a profit in the next set of financial accounts.

"The position we're in today is the best we've been in since I came to this club," Anderson told BBC Radio Manchester.

"When I came to this club, we were losing £18million a year. We had debts here, there and everywhere. We've gradually managed it, and there is still some way to go.

"We've probably got the least debt in the Championship at the moment and I believe we're going to show a small profit this year, which as far as I'm aware we're probably going to be the only club.

"We didn't spend any money on transfers. We managed our squad and we had to fight some contracts, but I would say the club is in a far better position today than it was two years ago."

One outstanding debt owed by Wanderers is to financing company BluMarble, who helped broker Dean Holdsworth's share of a takeover from Eddie Davies in March 2016, and Anderson believes everything is on track with regards to repayment.

"We are due to pay BluMarble at the beginning of next month and I don't see any reason why we won't be paying that."
