Bolton have completed the signing of Jonathan Grounds on a season-long loan deal from Championship rivals Birmingham City.

Grounds, who will provide competition for Andrew Taylor in the left-back position, signed a new contract with the Blues in January that is set to run until the summer of 2020 but is seemingly out of favour at St Andrew's after making just five appearances since.

The 30-year-old has featured 170 times since joining City on a free transfer from Oldham Athletic in 2014 and the former Middlesbrough youth player admits he cannot wait to get his career back on track.

"I'm really excited to get going," Grounds told bwfc.co.uk.

"I'm really pleased that I'm at Bolton Wanderers and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and getting going.

"Speaking to the manager was definitely one of the things that helped me make my decision, as well as how much he wanted to get me up here.

"It's going to be a good place for me to come and play football and I’m ready for the challenge."
