Bolton have completed the signing of goalkeeper Remi Matthews from Norwich City on an initial loan deal, which will be made permanent in January.

Matthews, who came through the youth system at Carrow Road, failed to make a first-team appearance for the Canaries but has spent the majority of the past four years out on loan at the likes of Burton Albion, Doncaster Rovers, Hamilton Academical and, most recently, Plymouth Argyle.

The 24-year-old arrives at the University of Bolton Stadium to provide competition for Ben Alnwick and he believes he is joining a club on the up.

"I'm delighted to be here," Matthews told bwfc.co.uk. "This is a massive club that is going places and the main thing for me is that I wanted to come to a football club with ambition.

"This was definitely the move that I wanted to get done. It's a different scenery after being at Norwich for so long, but it's a massive club that should be in the Premier League."
