Oldham Athletic manager Frankie Bunn has confirmed he is keeping a close eye on Connor Hall, but won't rush into a loan deal for the promising forward.

Hall, who netted 22 times as Wanderers' under-23 side secured the Professional Development League National title last season, scored a hat-trick in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Latics on Tuesday.

Trotters boss Phil Parkinson has revealed his intentions of allowing the 20-year-old to seek regular first-team opportunities lower down the EFL, but Bunn says a deal will only be agreed if he deems the player a good fit at SportsDirect.com Stadium.

"Connor scored a hat-trick against us on Tuesday and looks, potentially, very good," Bunn told The Oldham Times.

"But we're looking at all young players, from the Premier League and the Championship.

"We have to be patient in who we're looking at and do our due diligence."
