Bolton Wanderers are to play their home games at the University of Bolton Stadium, after a new long-term naming rights partner was announced.

Effective immediately, the University of Bolton succeeds Macron - whose kit deal remains unaffected - after their four-year naming partnership came to an end.

The new agreement will give players and club staff access to state-of-the-art facilities at the University and Jason Kenny Centre, while students on sports-based courses will be selected to receive behind-the-scenes access at the stadium and Lostock training base.

"We are extremely proud of this strategic long-term partnership with the University of Bolton," chairman Ken Anderson told

"Like us, they are at the heart of the community and play a vital role in flying the flag for our great town.

"We will be honoured to display their brand on our stadium which will help them reach out to a wider audience."

In addition, professor George E Holmes, President and Vice Chancellor of the University, said: "We are very excited by continuing our association and support of Bolton Wanderers.

"Both the football club and the University of Bolton are synonymous with our town and we felt now was the right time to extend our strategic partnership; that includes increased benefits for our sport students.

"The deal will enable students studying Sports Science to have an opportunity to help assess sportsmen and women in a professional environment which will greatly enhance their learning.

"They will have access to the state-of-the-art facilities and specialist expertise at the club with an opportunity to develop a real-world understanding of their subject in a professional environment; invaluable for our students as they seek employment further down the line.

"Given that we are a town centre campus, this partnership with Bolton Wanderers will immediately create an excellent sporting infrastructure for our students.

"It's an incredibly exciting move for the university."

The deal is the latest in a string of sponsorships the University has held in recent years.

FibrLec, a University of Bolton start-up, saw their branding placed on club shirts between 2013 and 2015, while the University themselves had a brief arrangement in the latter stages of the 2015/16 campaign after the collapse of ROK Mobile.

Since last season, the University has also had their logo on the rear of player shorts, further extending a partnership that has spanned more than 20 years in total.
